The new PowerStep mechanism adapts to cutting thin branches with a single movement and thick branches in two or three stages. One tool is sufficient for a variety of tasks. Fiskars has over 350 years of experience in producing tools, and its products have received prizes and awards in design competitions on repeated occasions. The company’s scissors, pruners and other tools make technical innovations and carefully studied ergonomic properties accessible even to ordinary consumers to truly make work easier. Design always proceeds from function, of which the shape and form of the product are a logical result. In pruners and cutters, the force required for operation can be reduced in various ways, such as the choice of blade materials and their coating, adjustments to the cutting and sharpening angle of the blade, or with the joint linking the blades. Because of its new type of mechanism, the joint of the PowerStep pruner utilizes energy from the easy initial and final stages of the cutting movement by transferring it to the middle stage. The cutting power of the geared joint can be adjusted according to the thickness of the branch – thin branches are cut in a single movement while by repeating the movement a branch can be cut in two or three stages. This makes it possible to cut thicker branches with less strength and the tool does not have to be changed during the work. The pruners are a joy to professional and amateur gardeners alike.
