The Estlander Prize of 2000
The
criticism concerned is integrally related to design, applied art and
industrial design alike, evaluated in a public forum. True constructive
criticism requires insight and knowledge as well as an understanding of
both time and recent history. Journalism has played an important role in
developing the applied arts and in presenting this area to the public.
The
jury awarded the first Estlander prize to
Carla Enbom and
Pekka
Suhonen, design critics, essayists and journalists who have
demonstrated a broad and significant professional understanding of the
history and present of applied art and design.
