Five Nordic design organizations joined forces and carried out an extensive study of the design profession in the Nordic countries. Participating were Danish Design Centre, DOGA Design and Architecture Norway, Iceland Design Centre, Swedish Industrial Design Foundation and Design Forum Finland. This first ever joint study states, among other things, that design professionals are much more numerous than it was previously estimated, plus reveals differences in the use of design and designers’ work in the five countries. Finland shows a strong application of strategic design whereas visual and graphic design are significant professions in Iceland and Norway.
