Sasa saddle pailDesign: Kitta PerttulaDetails: plastic pail working also as a seat Product: Sasa saddle pail
Product number: 4743 Price: 35,00€ Versatility and double function were the subject of an industrial design course when Kitta Perttula (born 1979) was staying as an exchange student in Germany. An idea was immediately born in the mind of the former strawberry picker: a pail that double-functions as a seat. A prototype was made in Germany and when Perttula returned to her studies at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, she developed the idea into her Master's thesis. A year later Sasa saddle pail is in production. A Finnish plastic company manufactures the blow-moulded Sasa with the same technique as a watering can. The handy pail is suitable for berry-picking as well as carrying tools – and you'll always have a seat with you. A padding for the seat is under further development. You could call Kitta Perttula a full-blooded functionalist. Ergonomics and the usability and versatility of an object are essential in her design work. She is also the first Finnish designer to have acquired the Master of European Design title. |
