Design <3 Circular Economy

Design <3 Circular Economy Day is about design and bio and circular economies. The seminar day is organized by Hiilinielu Design Studio and EcoDesign Circle.

Design <3 Circular Economy was a one-day seminar about circular and bio economy and design as a booster of these two fields. The seminar was arranged by Hiilinielu (Carbon Sink) Design Studio and EcoDesign Circle projects.

N.B. the seminar was in Finnish, except Dr. Leyla Acaroglu's keynote talk which was held in English.

CARBON SINK DESIGN STUDIO

The aim of Carbon Sink Design Studio is to create business and work around new bio products and design, and to create the Carbon Sink Design Studio operations model, which will work as a joint tool for companies and students from different fields.

The main executor of the multidisciplinary project is the University of Applied Sciences in Tampere, with the University of Applied Sciences in Lahti and Design Forum Finland as partner executors. The results of the Carbon Sink Design Studio will be presented at Helsinki Design Week 2017.

The project has received financing from the European Social Fund of the European Union, with the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Häme as the financing authority.

ECODESIGN CIRCLE

EcoDesign Circle: Ecodesign as driver of innovation in the Baltic Sea Region is a three-year (2016–2019) development project partly funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme of the European Union. The project is for developing circular economy and related business, research and educational activities with the means of design and design thinking.

The Lead Partner of the project is the Umweltbundesamt UBA of Germany. The other partners are Internationales Design Zentrum Berlin (Germany), Eesti Disainikeskus (Estonia), Lithuanian Designers' Society (Lithuania), Design Forum Finland (Finland), Stiftelsen Svensk Industridesign (Sweden) and Gdynia Innovative – Pomeranian Science and Technology Park – Gdynia Design Centre (Poland). The total budget of the project is € 2.2 million.
