DESIGN FORUM talk

DESIGN FORUM talks are aimed at Finnish SME's that seek competitiveness and growth. Through case presentations and discussions DESIGN FORUM talks will share information about the uses of design expertise on various business areas.

Design Forum Talk <3 Circular Economy highlights design as part of sustainable business development and as a response to our environmental challenges. Switching to business models based on circular economy would provide companies with significant means to slow down and fight off climate change.

Now, arranged for the third time, the circular economy seminar introduces current themes that combine design and circular economy. Expert speeches describe what bio design means or how design methods can help in identifying and solving complex problems, while business cases encourage the development of circular business models and experimenting with service and sharing economies.

The event in moderated by Ia Adlercreutz, CEO & Strategist, Co-founders. The event is in English.

The event is organised in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Helsinki and it is a part of Helsinki Design Week's programme. Helsinki Design Week, the biggest design festival in the Nordic countries will be arranged 5–15 September 2019.

Ditte lysgaard vind

Ditte is a renowned circular economy and design expert and author of A Changemaker's Guide to the Future as well as the managing partner in Lendager The Circular Way – a strategic innovation consultancy and part of Lendager Group. Furthermore, Ditte is a member of the Executive Board of The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts' Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation and The Danish Design Council. Her main area of focus is to future-proof businesses by accelerating the transition to circularity through design-thinking, R&D and strategic partnerships across industries.

Jakob Trollbäck

Jakob Trollbäck is an award-winning Swedish Creative Director and founder of Trollbäck + Company, a design studio for TV, feature films and commercials with clients such as Nike, CBS and Volvo. In 2015 Jakob created the design for the SDGs and labelled them the Global Goals. The communication system is being used worldwide and has expanded to include the 169 targets which he created under his new sister company The New Division based in Stockholm. The New Divisions is a communication agency solely focused on sustainability and making the difficult easy to understand for a prospering future.

Koen Meerkerk

Koen Meerkerk and Hugo de Boon are a Rotterdam based designer duo, graduated from the Willem de Kooning academy. With a passion for creating value to things which have been labelled useless, the duo has placed themselves in todays circular economy. Facing and solving problems from a designer point of view. With a Bachelor's degree in spatial design, the two young designers have
placed their focus on the development of innovative material. After graduating, they moved into their new workplace in Bluecity where they work together with other circular businesses towards a zero waste economy. The vision here at Fruitleather Rotterdam is not only to spread awareness of the food waste issue, but also to show how waste in general can be used in a positive way.

Hugo de Boon

Koen Meerkerk and Hugo de Boon are a Rotterdam based designer duo, graduated from the Willem de Kooning academy. Grace Boicel

Grace is an Creative Design Director for Omuus. She is an award-winning strategic and innovation-driven design leader with a proven track record of creating brand-defining physical and digital products for multinational businesses such as H&M, Nokia and Microsoft. She has extensive experience in building and leading multi-disciplinary global teams and driving the integration of design-led thinking into the business environment. With her experience and passion for strategic design-thinking, and being one of the few professionally trained Applied Colour Psychology Specialists in the UK, she is able to push the boundaries of physical and digital product innovation; creating great customer experiences, stronger brands and building design-led businesses. She is also well rooted in colour material design and is keen to drive design for sustainability and resourcefulness.

Ia Adlercreutz

Ia Adlercreutz (MA, MBA) has a passion for creating distinction. She has almost two decades of experience in branding, business development and design management. Recently Ia has become involved in many projects that promote sustainable design. One of them is Circular Classroom (www.circularclassroom.com), a corporate social responsibility program for Walki. !a believes strongly in the circular economy and challenges companies to explore business opportunities that derive from the inevitable change we are facing. Ia has held top management positions in renowned consumer goods companies such as Kekkilä, Hasselfors Garden and Fiskars. Today she is a board member in several B2B and B2C companies and runs a company, Co-founders (www.co-founders.com), that is specialized in developing and fusing brands and company culture.

This year's second DESIGN FORUM talk presented again interesting speeches and inspiring cases by Tarja Pentila and Katja von Alfthan from TNS Gallup, Tim Hall from Fjord, Susanna Kinnari from Terveystalo, and Otso Koski from Nokia Technologies. The discussion was hosted by digitalist Ville Tolvanen. The event was organized in cooperation with Fjord.
